Pure Rawk.co.uk - September 2007
One of the most exciting, youthful prospects from the midlands - Patchwork Grace, unleash their debut album “Milk Teeth”. It really doesn’t seem that long ago that their debut single came out, they got top marks from us then. This almost hour long offering is getting the same treatment I’m afraid ...the album does have a big scary baby doll face on the front though ...
Those who are new to Patchwork Grace - one of the ways you could describe them on first listen is to think along the lines of Queen Adreena and King Adora in a bit of a sensual tete a tete while Motley Crue and Anti-Product give each other a right good walloping. There’s punk, there’s trash, there’s rock n’ roll, a tinge of goth and a smidge of pop in there - there’s a lot of crazy stuff going on - most of it very dark and dirty. Those who have heard them before, you know roughly what I’m going on about. It is very hard to give them a text book definition, because they are very undefinable.
So “Milk Teeth” - its not just an offering of crazy little songs with a few very strange titles - there’s a lot more to them than that. Originally the B side on the single for ‘Zebra’, Patchwork Grace have slowed their opener ‘Lovely’ down a bit and it sounds a lot more raw. They’ve done a similar thing with ‘Zebra’ as well. Its taken a fair few listens but the change in pace is quite likable - more so if you’ve not heard the difference between the two tracks. You can’t help but smile when you hear the chorus though (“I Don’t Want to be a Zebra” - with followed by a zebra-howly-type squeak from Tori Trash). If nothing else, they probably win the title of ‘band who dislikes stripy horses’ award.
Stepping it up, their bass driven single ‘Soap’ is a very powerful assault of trashy punk rock with the warbling guitar solo mid way through breaks it up nicely. Their cover of The Cure’s ‘The Lovecats’ has their own style stamped all over it. The sexy 'Kharrrrarrah' makes you feel like you’re on some kind of mad trip. “Little Me” is a slow little number to start, drawing you in with its rhythmic drum beats. 'Choc, Milk & Cocaine' is quite a snappy trashy number and easily one of their anthem tracks.
From their previous releases (namely a few zine compilations) 'Nancy' has been changed quite a bit - dual Trash/male/other female harmonies present probably the grungiest offering on the album. ‘Pink Aniseed’ is filthy and sexy and has some delectably dirty opening riffs and some cowbell (thumbs up). Despite the disorder and variety of noises this lot make - they’ve got the hooks to keep you listening - even in their album closer ‘Doctors Note’. You can’t help but listen to the chorus and make the ‘ooo ooo’ noises, even if its in your head.
Dirty guitar licks and a very strong bass line are present in each song, crafted differently each time and topped off with Tori Trash’s unique voice. Too often, I’ve listened to material that’s made for the sake of it - because the artists in question are so obsessed with a certain music style and try and emulate it to death. These guys have sprung out of the music-making-poseur culture and produced something that oozes passion and originality.
Patchwork Grace have set a new standard, for anyone to produce anything as fucked up and downright delicious as this will have an incredibly hard task ahead of them. You’ll be a fool not to have this in your record collection.

Bubblegum Slut Fanzine - August 2006
The second band to be released on the TrashPit label keeps up the quality in a glorious day-glo explosion of riot-grrl sounds, raging drunken riffs and rampant silliness. With singer Tori Trash screaming “I don’t want to be a Zebra!” in a little-girl-lost-it voice on the title track they invoke the energy and quirkiness of Daisy Chainsaw, a resemblance very much strengthened by BSide ‘Lovely’. Lovely indeed!

Organ Magazine July 2006 - SINGLE OF THE WEEK
PATCHWORK GRACE Zebra (TrashPit) - Off hinge Daisy Chainsaw/Queen Adreena types with an extra off-hinge singing girl (called Tori Trash) who doesn't want to be a zebra why? Why would you not want to be a zebra? I want to know! Off-hinge trash rock, Wednesday 13 and trash queen flash bombs and Those stripeeeeeey horses are never black and white and I love this second track even more than the Zebra thing. yeah I know it's wrong. I love it, buying shit with your expensive card, smile, lovely be your own pet, oh yes, never mind the zebra, now you know where you're gonna go trailer trash clearly -.lovely, b-side of the month, lovely lovely do you think they'll notice that bad language if we play it on the radio? My policy is to never mention it and hope the complaining types and the radio police aren't paying attention. Four minutes long - they probably didn't need that last minute, the first three explosive minutes rule in a throw away drunken screaming girl jumping all over your toes kind of way... Actually no, hang on, I like the Zebra song better now, and the Queen Chainsaw thing was just damn lazy of me, it gives you a vague idea though, nothing more they're from Nottingham, they're brilliant, you've got me on a leash a damn damn leash.... Zebra crossing and YEAH! -Sean O

Quite simply the best looking band on earth! Every show is a feast of entertainment. Their sound is reminiscent of Daisy Chainsaw, Sonic Youth, The Ramones and Blondie.

For a band so young, Patchwork Grace really do ooze star quality. Their sultry fashion and trailer trash attitude make them a force to be reckoned with. This threesome really is a band to look out for.

TrashPit Magazine - Issue 9
The care free aggression of grunge in a car crash collision with Motley Crue attitude and Robin Black eyeliner provide the soundtrack for a love hate Daisy Chainsaw vocal and the world of Patchwork Grace. This exciting young band seem to have a no holds barred attitude to whatever musical influences they damn well want and they proceed to twist and mould it into a tragic melting pot of musical ideas and expression which far bellies their ages yet is the perfect result that only youthful energy can deliver. Title track 'Zebra' could easily tear apart daytime Radio 1 should the likes of Zane Lowe or even Jo Whiley get their influential hands onto it with it's quirkily infectious motif. For a debut this is scarily exciting stuff and a full album of this calibre is an exciting prospect indeed.

Roy's Rock Page - July 2006
Youth is King! Never a truer statement was said and one that holds incredibly true with the members of hotly tipped Nottingham trash kings Patchwork Grace. These four teenagers deliver a live show like none other and with a profesionalism that would put any veteran band to shame. Absorbing diverse influences as far afield as the likes of Queen Adreena right through to Motley Crue, Patchwork Grace cleverly pick and choose the finest slices of excitement from each genre and mould it into their own framework of technicolour psycho sleaze rock! The band have already notched up well over a hundred gigs in their short lifespan all over the country and built up a devoted army of followers. Support slots alongside The Subways, TrashLight Vision, The Fight and The Erotics have proved Patchwork Grace can mix it up with the very best of the scene.

Pride Of Manchester
Patchwork Grace have a Rock ‘n’ Roll, Punk vibe that was enhanced by their excellent stage presence, enthusiasm and a great energy that made you know you were in for a good show. These guys were obviously in their element and so were the crowd! The stand out track for me had to be ‘Zebra’ a catchy tune, strange but appealing lyrics, lead vocalist Tori Trash really wowed the crowd… Reminding me of a rockier version of Bjork when she was with the Sugarcubes in her earlier career.

Killer Dienamite Zine
This single is lively, fun, straight up rock 'n roll & you will love it! A far cry from the older PG stuff, lead track 'Zebra' is absolutely brilliant. It's infectious, has awesome lead female vocals that seem perfect, and is the sort of song that could easily make it into the charts. This is music that will appeal to almost anyone. Patchwork Grace just keep getting better and better, and there's no way these guys (and girl!) are going away for a long, long time. - 9/10

"I don't Want to be a Zebra", what a funny chorus! But that works! PATCHWORK GRACE is a young band from the UK formed in January 2005 but they already opened for bands such as The SUBWAYS or TRASHLIGHT VISION. Here they are on Trash Pit records, they play a kind of alternative glam pop rock with female vocals (sometimes reminding of QUEEN ADREENA.) "Zebra" and "Lovely" are full of energy and well catchy and they just make me want to hear more! I have to add that this single sounds like PATCHWORK GRACE must be a cool band to see live. - Laurent.

The CD gets stuck straight in there with Zebra, an incredible piece of musical engineering. This punky pop sleazy glam rock track has you captivated from start to end. And I would be willing to put money on it that anyone who has heard this song at least once has found themselves walking around proclaiming how they don’t want to be a zebra. The female singer is a nice touch and I love the way she slightly slurs her words. She has so much attitude in her voice and the music certainly follows suite, with an awesome guitar solo which admitedly isn’t too technically adept, but sounds so f***ing cool. This CD gives you a real feel for the energy Patchwork Grace put into their music, and this is just a recording, I don’t think I’d be able to even comprehend how good their live show could potentially be.

At last we have a true non-corporate, non-manufactured contender. Patchwork Grace, rock 'n' roll saviours... It's what your eyes and ears were made for.

The Old Angel, Nottingham - Live Review
Review by Steph - Saggy Pants Fanzine

Female fronted indie band, Patchwork Grace were the headline act. They started out sounding very clean cut, with pleasant vocal patterns, and some great technique by the guitarist. As the set went on however, the stand in bassist was on and off the stage as he re-tuned, playing bass for the songs the singer didn't. They belted out a cover of The Cranberries - Zombie, which they did justice, and the set gradually built up to a more aggressive, trashy sound. Their performance was a polished one, and they managed very well under bass player circumstances, showing no sign of mistakes, and playing a widely varying set without incident.

5/5

The band I went especially to see, were Patchwork Grace. I had heard from friends the band were good and I wanted to see for myself. They took to the stage around 5.00pm and played for a good while. The setlist included good, strong songs. Singer, Tori, provided the vocals and was a brilliant lead singer. The songs were all of a high standard. 'A Girl Called Flower' was the only song I had heard from the band before seeing them live. And I have to say the song was amazing live. It is hard to believe this band haven't been together that long. From the way they perform you would think they had been doing it for years. Patchwork Grace were an act that stood out and gave a kick ass show. All songs played were excellent and everyone there seemed to enjoy the performance. Patchwork Grace are a top band and deserve to do well with their music. They are a great live act and their songs are proof that Patchwork Grace can cut it. I strongly suggest you go and see this band! You won't be disappointed.

Some describe Patchwork Grace as glam rock, others consider them to be hardcore glam but in reality PWG are amalgamations of genres that cannot be put in any single box and as a result have developed a mind shattering style of music that is unlike any other. Come and see PWG and have all you expectations blown away, rearranged and then thrown violently back together again!
